Got insurance on it! It made my policy go down 33 bucks a month which is pretty cool for me being only 25. One of the few perks of getting older.
Having trouble finding someone to safety it because of the lift and tires and bumpers, but my friend lined me up with someone more “lenient” So next week hopefully I can get that ironed out and get some historic plates.
Today I adjusted the valves, did PCV and grommet, flushed coolant and did another oil change because there was tons of moisture in it.
The residue was only on the front part of the valve cover, after I changed the fluids I took it for a long drive and there was nothing on the oil cap when I pulled it, and oil still looked good

Toy-YotaParticipantThis ones closer to home I may be able to make it! Trying my best to get a safety on my 4runner, I got over the insurance hurdle.
Toy-YotaParticipantThanks guys! I think this is officially the longest thread on TNTT
Toy-YotaParticipantGot my TRD stickers on, hey it does have a rear locker and skidplates 👍🏻
Toy-YotaParticipanttoday I stuck plates on and went for a quick test drive. Brakes are hard with the v6 master and stock booster but can always change that out later. Rear brakes need some adjustment and gotta play around with the proportioning valve.
other than that it went well! I need to swap the alternator, wire up the brake master cap light and some other odds and ends before I do a safety.
I’m concerned about an oil leak above the water pump but I have a few options to try before I do anything major
Toy-YotaParticipantBack when we had beater trucks and there was conveniently a Canadian tire beside the trail.
Toy-YotaParticipantWow nice shop, really high ceiling height eh?
Toy-YotaParticipantShould have read closer, it would be a real pain to try to remake those quarters out of sheet metal, that’s for sure! Hope everything goes smooth.
Toy-YotaParticipantInstead of finding faulty wiring today, I bought stuff to do my exhaust and I installed this!
Note to everyone on TNTT: copper nickel brake line is superior to steel. And I had some leftover braided lines so I ran them on the back axle too.
Got all line plumbed In and hooked up, and bled the master. really hope everything bleeds ok.
Toy-YotaParticipantRear quarters definitely need some work!
Have you though about cutting off the rear quarters at the same height as the bottom of the tailgate? And just capping it off with sheet metal?
Two big upsides to that idea are simplicity and you can run a high clearance bumper similar to the one I built, that wraps around. I’ve never worked on a 60 so I dont know if there are setbacks or difficulties with doing this, but just a thought!
Toy-YotaParticipantThanks guys.
Todays progress, pulled the bumper off and welded up the tabs for the turn signals, and wired them in using leftover factory connectors and shrink wrap. Then I welded a hook to the stinger to hook the winch cable too and added the winch. Re installed it and it’s all good.
Gauge cluster wasn’t working, the engine fuse in the kickpanel was blown so I changed it and it worked. But when I put the reverse lights on it blows again so I need to figure that out.
Toy-YotaParticipantOrange Saphhire isn’t really orange anymore, maybe it’s time for a new name. First time moving under its own power in a long time, finally outside enjoying the sun! Beyond excited!
Toy-YotaParticipantLove the detail! 9 inch front with 80 outers would be cool, and never thought to use a 10.5 tundra diff.
the 79 series is my favourite I think.
Toy-YotaParticipantOk cool, pickups are so much easier, 4runner bodies areheavy and awkward. I used an engine hoist and excavator to take my old body off. And the new body, I used engine hoist and some ceiling joists with a come along and ratchetstrap.
pumped to see some progress pics!
Toy-YotaParticipantLove me a 60, can’t wait to see progress!
