ParticipantNice to see you’re getting some work done! The bumper chop changes the truck totally, and the body mount chop will be functional for sure. If you don’t follow stellar built on Instagram you should, they do tons of work on 5th gens and you’ll probably get a bunch of ideas from them!

ParticipantThat’s a smart move! I just sold the bigger excavator I had too. Oh well maybe I’ll find another.
Today I stepped up to big boy tires. 37×12.5r17, they’re big and heavy. But fit the truck really well I think. And they were a good deal.

ParticipantIt’s so true, it gets way too easy to just throw tools wherever is convenient.
I’m back To work now so the wrenching on the truck will probably slow down for a bit. I’m on the hunt for some 315/75r16 tires though if anyone has anything or sees some around. I also need to order a center diff lock button and install that which is easy.
Work stuff will keep me busy for a while now 🙁 On the plus side I just got this machine with a bunch of attachments so let me know if you need any work done!

ParticipantWe’ve been thinking about getting a bike too. We sold the atv a couple weeks ago. I’d get something just to boot around on when we go to the cottage, but it would be mainly for my wife while I’m in My truck wheeling.
The main problem we have now is with my camper and the Land Cruiser I have no way of moving a quad but I could figure out a mount to put a small dirt bike on the trailer. I’m thinking like a CRF/Xr100 size bike or maybe a TTR125 or something.

ParticipantMaking small additions, ordered 100 feet of 3/8 synthetic from Ranger, seems good overall, 20,500 lbs capacity, I didn’t get a hook just a D-ring and I might get a factor55 style hook later on but for now this is fine.
Also get my second toolbox setup and organized!

ParticipantYeah it’s a natural rock wall, thanks guys! I believe there’s just a tensioner for the AC belt and then one tensioner for the alternator belt, which is actually double belted. I tightened it up and swapped some belts to get the squeaking to stop.
My synthetic line came in today too so gonna get that spooled on.

ParticipantI dont know why when I resize it they flip sideways but you’ll have to deal with it. Been messing around in the back 40, building a little cabin and wood stove. I got stuck and of course haven’t put any winch rope on yet so I had to get a tug from my from with his JK. Right now I need the winch rope, the truck needs new belts, and it needs a coolant flush and fill which I got the stuff for today

ParticipantMy social distancing…. sorry the pics are resized and messed up

ParticipantIs everyone dead on here from Corona Virus or what?
I met Toyota Tom at princess auto last week to give him the lug nut keys to the orange sapphire. His update made me happy, he got the truck into a new shop where he can tear down! I’m sure he’ll post himself but he said he got a short shifter, front locker, RCV axles and some other goodies, and he said it fired right up after the winter just like it always did!
Stole this pic from his Instagram, his buddy got a clean new first gen too. That’s the end of my update just wanted to keep people occupied if you happen to be off work or self isolating

ParticipantThat was my plan actually but I didn’t have any welding wire and I’d like to keep the Borla resonator that’s on there. This was just a quick fix to get me going. I’d like to cut it above the rear axle and then do a side exit after the tire.
It just always bugs me when I see how low it is and with the size and wheelbase of 80, it’ll hit on any kind of ledge and probably get crushed
Toy-Yota
ParticipantLame! So you have to pull the 3rd? Don’t the air lockers have a copper air line that runs above the ring gear? Do you think it’s messed up or just a fitting?
Toy-Yota
ParticipantThat’s the one I was thinking of getting, I’d like to get a proper snatch block too mine is really heavy and big.
Tom it’s not on a hinge but I think that might be a good idea, or try to move it somewhere else. I haven’t really decided. My exhaust hangs down really low so I cut it and bolted it up a few inches higher. And I added a factory tow point to the back of my frame for a solid anchor point.

ParticipantDoes anyone have any experience with synthetic winch line? Brand, thickness length etc?

ParticipantTaking a little trip this morning down memory lane.

ParticipantTotal stealth mode. You can barely tell there’s a winch in there. Just gotta order up my synthetic rope and it’ll be all good to go. I wired it up yesterday and it works. I mount the control box under the hood. I’d like to find a better spot for it but the wires only go so far.
