Toy-YotaParticipant
Yeah definitely cool to see the owner using it. I always wanted to build it into something more capable than it was so I’m happy To see that.
With that said I do miss the capability a lot, even though we’re doing less and less actual crawling and my friends selling their built trucks and buggies.
The cruiser was a good in between for me. I think basically I just need something lifted and has lockers. The open diffs in the tacoma don’t work well enough for what i intend to use it for, especially with the trailer.Things may be changing around with my business and so I’m always Thinking of what the ideal vehicle is for me, seems like it changes as time goes on and probably will continue to.
Toy-YotaParticipantA few updates for orange sapphire. Tommy has been using it which is awesome to see.

Toy-YotaParticipantThat’s a big nut to be flopping around in that case and no catch on anything. Count your blessings!
Toy-YotaParticipantNice job! A date stamp on the video is good to have when selling a motor, that way they know when it was pulled and running.
Full speed on a blower in deep snow is no fun at all
Toy-YotaParticipantI can’t wait for your to get ready running. And I’m excited To hear about the wiring part of the build that always seems the most daunting to me.
Once I’m done Work for the season and back from vacay I’ll shoot up to your place with some beer and grab those parts from you!
Toy-YotaParticipantYeah we’ll see how it goes, no real bites on it yet I’m asking Too much money.
Sounds like a pop up toy hauler is in your future. Like a fleetwood evo or jayco baja. They have a lot of tongue weight though, that can be an issue when your tow vehicle is a tacoma though.
Toy-YotaParticipantRust gets the best of everything no doubt. When I swapped mine, I removed the 4 bolts on the bottom hall joint, the one bolt on the bottom of the strut, and lifted the whole assembly out of the way to pull out the CV.
Toy-YotaParticipantThanks for the effort! Donor is the best way no doubt, you’ll have everything you need and things that may be hard to source otherwise especially for a 3rz
Toy-YotaParticipantNice! Looking good
Toy-YotaParticipantSeems like I have all the fueling issues sorted out. I swapped the rad and put the pink coolant in, someone told me long ago that Toyotas like the red stuff so that’s what I always use.
I’ve had a constant small issues with this truck to be honest, on the way home from the last trip the exhaust cracked and then totally broke in two. Nothing too major though, I’ll weld it back together and eventually redo the exhaust because the previous owner was a crap welder and cobbled it all together.
All part of the fun I guess, it tours well. The extended cab works well for us because our clothes and stuff goes in the cab and the rest of our stuff in the cap. It works well to have a pickup to be honest. The truck itself is definitely not as capable as the landcruiser or my 4runner. I need a rear locker in this thing. As much as we do more touring, I want it to be able to work in the rocks when I want it to. And I find with a rear locker I don’t put it in 4wd on many of the trails we run until I need it.
Some pics from my wife and I this last weekend.

Toy-YotaParticipantIt was up around Bancroft area, they’re more atv trails than anything. We did do much actual wheeling just coming in and out of camp, they’re very tight. Especially with the trailer, but we had a good time on the atvs.
Toy-YotaParticipantSo the truck did pretty well the first time out. Here’s some updates. I installed a brake controller which works well. I did order and install the SPC upper control arms and I put in some Swayaway coilovers which are really nice. My rad started leaking when we got to camp so I filled it with stop leak. I’ll have to order a new rad I guess and throw that in. Along with building a skid plate for it to protect it. I also added an ICON add a lead and some Timbrens bump stops out back.

Toy-YotaParticipantWe got out too this weekend, we had a great time too. Glad y’all had a good time with no breakdowns

Toy-YotaParticipantA little high in the back yeah but it looks awesome. The FJ is becoming very popular in the used market I’ve noticed.
Toy-YotaParticipantI might be interested in something. The two things I can think of are the rack and pinion and the front axles.
