KeymasterCool!

KeymasterWelded up and good as new:
And bumper back on – the winch won’t pull the bumper off the truck now!
Slick_Yota
KeymasterTook the bumper off tonight and put the winch to her first use. The outer bumper mount studs were broken off the mounting bracket.

KeymasterWinch finally hooked up! That only took a year and a half!

KeymasterAnd forgot to mention the AC compressor doesn’t engage anymore. When I turn on the defrost or AC, the compressor screams at me for a few seconds.
Now that I have time, it seems the old Taco is trying to take it all up…..

KeymasterCrawled under the truck to rotate the driveshaft x diff 180 degrees. While under there, thought I’d look around.
the centre carrier bearing is shot. Has more play than a kindergarten class! The u joint by the carrier bearing looks pretty shady too, but no play in that…while greasing the rest of the u joints, I noticed A LOT of fluid on the driver side half shaft and cross member. Looks like I blew a diff seal on the driver’s side.

KeymasterAnd the obligatory poser pic:

KeymasterReplaced the U joint last week before going to Rays Place for winter wheeling. Got rid of the 90 kmph vibration, but after wheeling there was a 110 – 120 kmph vibration. A little different than the other one… No vibration at 130, so I drove that most of the way home and made it back in record time – under 3 hours!
Going out to separate the shaft from the 3rd member and rotate it 180 degrees. I forgot to mark it before I took it apart (d’oh!!!), so we’ll see if that clears it up. I don’t think I hit the shaft on anything wheeling….

KeymasterNice score with that 4Runner! I’d love to have a V8!
There was a guy with a newer TRD Off Road 4Runner at our winter run. He didn’t have any issues with the first obstacle that the jeeps were struggling with (mainly due to experience).

KeymasterOh yeah, still had a great time. Got to shoot the shit with a bunch of like minded people – always good!
Here’s a link to the TW thread for the run. There’s pics of the other shit show run that I avoided:

KeymasterWell that was quite the run. Close I 30 rigs – Tacoma’s and Jeeps.
Majority did the longer, harder run. After waiting 2.5 hours to get 20+ trucks past the first obstacle, I opted to turn around and just do an “easier” trail with a stock-ish guy, tacoma16 and Manfred.
The easy trail had 8” of wet snow and was very hilly with lots of sharp turns around trees. Front and rear truck had winches (mine still isn’t hooked up). Peter had to winch up every hill, just to get up. I was able to drive up the first 2, but no chance on the 3rd. And it was a good spot to turn around, so I positioned my truck to go back and let the other 2 try the hill.
neither could get up, so we all turned around. I was lead on the way out and drove out with no issue. Mike was next is his lower truck and got out as well. Manfred took the last turn too tight and got hung up on a tree – big time. Dented his box. Peter had to winch him off a stump.
Looks like hooking up my winch should be a priority. Thanks to Peter for the on board air – less than 2” per tire was nice!
met lots of nice people (even the Jeep peeps – lol).

KeymasterMotorcycles are fun! I always have 4 – 6 sitting around in various stages of rebuild…
