KeymasterGoing to start playing with the 77 KZ750 to get it running. Need to put the clubman bars on it and fix the seat (and get it running) to flip it.

KeymasterGood idea!
When I bought the bike, it was red. Piping worked at the time…
I’m also thinking of tweaking the rear end, so I can put the 2 up seat back on if needed. Whatever I do, still want it to have that Mad Max look to it!

KeymasterGot out to the garage today – had to find some lag bolts for a pergola I’ll be putting over the patio during this government conspiracy to put small businesses out of business, exploit government power and control the masses in our new Orwellian Society. Hmmm, I digress….
I actually found the lags!
While in there, I cleaned up the mezzanine and started going through the bags of Concours parts to see if I could find the combi meter for the parts bike. Cleaned up another corner of the garage and ended up finding the part! However the previous owner took it completely apart and effed it up big time… WTF??? Well, at least I found a few more parts that I want to transfer over to the old Connie and got some more of the garage cleaned up!

KeymasterOk, let’s try this one. I hate resizing photos… I don’t have that kind of patience…

KeymasterApparently I’ll have to resize the photo. We’ll have to do something about this,…..

KeymasterWent for a nice self isolating ride on the bikes Tuesday with M, while it was nice out. Great to be back out on 2 wheels! Lots of other bikes out. Took the opportunity to get a poser pic in the sunshine!

KeymasterLOL. I had to change the starter on my 09 Taco 1 year after I swamped it at Ardbeg (along with the alternator).
The Taco started on the 4 banger was much the same as you described, except I was able to get the bolt out. Still only 1 click at a time with the ratcheting wrench. Bottom bolt, no problem. Top bolt however… What a PITA!!!

Keymaster^^^Agreed!

KeymasterI’d go manual!

KeymasterThe last couple of years, most people seem to be using GMRS radios. I actually got rid of my CB because very few I was wheeling with had one and if they did, the reception was crap because of the terrain… If you can’t see who you want to talk to, your CB won’t reach them.
The GMRS radios seem to have a better range in the hills and woods we traverse. They’re about $100 for a pair on Amazon. It’s best to get a model that you can plug directly into a USB charger, rather than on a cradle (like the FRS I used to have and also (lost) got rid of). Just need to get a brand that plays well with others – I think Motorolla, Cobra, Uniden work well together…

KeymasterScore for the bikes! Gotta love it when that happens!
I don’t recall mine being too tight, think a flat screw driver could turn it…
Biggest problem I had was at the dealer after having rear wheel bearing replaced under warranty, they told me e-brake cables were broken and needed replaced. $1K parts and 8 hours labour at dealer, so I told them to stuff it…
Had a buddy get me the cables for $150.00 and did it myself in less than 3 hours, taking my time and enjoying a brewski… Saved 85%!
However when I pulled the drums off, I saw the shoes were almost non-existent… Well they could have friggin’ told me that too, since they had it all apart! Had to buy shoes and disassemble everything again to replace the shoes!
They were probably trying to figure out how they could wring as much $$ as humanly possible out of me! Hence why I NEVER go to a dealer for anything other than warranty work (or the odd oil change, if I’m feeling lazy).

Keymasterah, Tacomas only have 1 nut with the castle cap or 1 castle nut. Being that 1 of mine was replaced under warranty, 1 had the castle nut and 1 had the castle cap – can’t remember which…

KeymasterLOL – indeed! The tires, rims, brakes, drive gear, rear shock, etc. were just a bonus…
Slick_Yota
KeymasterThanks – it is nice indeed! I broke the air adjust knob for the rear shock – just took the one off the parts bike… I love having it! And the fact that it runs like a champ is even a bigger bonus.
