Starting this thread for my other hobbie:  flipping bikes…

I’ve been a biker since the ripe old age of 15 with my first dirt bike, which was a ’73 Honda SL100.  Which looked something like this – not nearly as nice though…  It was beat to crap:

 

At 16, got my License and bought a 1980 Honda CM400T:

 

Then I got married and couldn’t afford anything until 1994, when I bought this and had to drive it rain, shine or snow:

After a 17 year hiatus, bought this:

Put 10K kms a year on this old girl 1987 Kawasaki Concours.  I drove her everywhere from February to December.  Every X-Mas I would take her out for a last ride (if she wasn’t in pieces…).

Looks like the concourse is in good shape! I only ever had dirt bikes. 86′ Honda 50 was my first bike, then I had a CT70, than a Honda 80, 100, 85, 125 and 250, then I got into quads. How’s your insurance for the Kawi?

It was about $700 per year.  I still  have it plated, but took it off the road when I got the 2008 Kawi Z1000 (I’ll show this one later).  The Z is about 800 per year.  I don’t have insurance bundled, so no savings yet…  Have to buy another house first…

First winter I had the Connie, I stripped it to the frame.  Did all serviced / replaced bearings and had it painted 202 Toyota black.

Then I bought this for $100… 1979 Honda CR250R Elsinore.  Man it was hard to get parts for this thing!

Stripped it down, rebuilt the engine.  got it running and driving (previous owner put the front wheel on backwards).

I didn’t even turn the wheel back around to sell it…

Next I bought a 1983 Kawasaki GPZ750.  Got it for $600 barely running…

Bought a battery, spark plugs, rocker cover gasket.  Fixed the neutral safety switch.  Replaced fork seals and brake pads.  Repacked triple tree bearings and she was good to go!

I was going to teach my daughter to ride on this bike, but it was WAY too fast!  So I sold it and doubled my money on it.

Next bike was the Suzuki GS400.  Bought it in Kitchener for $600 not running.  Put a lot into this one because it was the one I taught my  daughter to ride on.  Then later my girl friend.

Serviced all bearings, brakes, mufflers, throttle and clutch cables, fork seals, rebuilt the carbs, new battery and plugs.  Ran like a dream.

Then I bought a 1992 Ninja 500 for $375 not running.  This one needed a little more elbow grease…

Battery, plugs, rebuilt carbs, rebuilt forks, brakes.  Still wasn’t running quite right, so I flipped it for what I had into it.
