Congrats my friend, that’s a huge step forward. I remember screaming at the top of my lungs when my truck started for the first time. My wife came out and said “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this happy, even when we got married”

    😐

    Yay…. wiring

at least the Chevy parts are really easy to come by and relatively cheap!

It did okay, my 7.3 was having some issues so this was a friends Ram. This was a guys trip though no wives allowed!

We did have to shuffle the weight around once we got on the 401 it actually need more tongue weight it was starting to sway at higher speeds.

I’ve got two things to add, I keep dryer sheets in my pop up trailer and it does work for bugs and critters.

And if you already have the tcase ebrake I would definitely install that, and then go disk in the rear. It’s hard to make an ebrake work on disks, and the biggest downfall is having to pony up the money for a tcase ebrake, but since you already got it… run it!!!!

Definitely no shame to lower it! It is wayyyyy too high. Motor swaps are tough, I would stay toyota if you want dependability. The vw is an ok option but you’ve got a pretty heavy rig. I would do a 3rz or a 3.4 from a Tacoma/4runner. But wiring is a pain, there’s a million write ups on it at least

They’re pretty cheap at a wrecker. Were they stock pack 2wd springs?

I Really hope the knee and ankle heal quick for you!

Frame swap looks amazing. Did you like the Chevy 63s? They look so long on a small truck. I have F150s which I like, I think they’re 56 or 57”.

Looks awesome! I never realized 45s have sway bars in the back. And the bed looks so good.  Almost a shame to paint

I forgot you had plans to SAS this thing after it’s done. Now I’m more excited to see it finished.

When I had my 04 I always wanted to build it but I just didn’t have the knowledge or ability then. And I started adding up the axle cost, T100 oil pan, suspension, locker etc and it scared me off. I really should have though and would still like to at some point

Who would have ever thought that those Bolers and air streams would be worth as much as they are today!

The wife wants a Boler but they’re so  tall they wouldn’t work for tight trails.

All I can say is I have 1300 bucks into my camper, with the tires lift and sliders. It’ll sleep six people with the table folded down. And you have the option of having a table if it rains. Without having to set up any kind of tent or shelter. It takes 5 mins to set up and less if your wife helps haha
