Toy-YotaParticipant
Gotta love old trucks! That sounds like a nightmare, I guess gm motors really don’t belong in Toyotas…….
Toy-YotaParticipantFinally took the little light bar off the bumper and put two 6” bars in the bumper, I welded two small tabs on the backside quick and wired them up.

Toy-YotaParticipantThat’ll make some noise, that’s awesome you found the culprit.
Toy-YotaParticipantWrenching away, stiffened up my rear bumper. And picked up my new trailer, I don’t plan on trailering the LX much but if I have to I can. It barely fits.

Toy-YotaParticipantYeah FJ gas is cheap but it’s so awful on fuel. I said to Tom the other day when he was here that it would be much cheaper on fuel to take my 7.3 and trailer and just tow the LX450 on the trailer. I can’t believe just how bad it is. LOL good thing I don’t drive it much
Toy-YotaParticipantIt’s a giant 54mm but, then a lock washer that you bend the tabs on, then another 54mm. I didn’t have a fish scale so you’re very right. I may not have tightened them to the right spec but when I finished with the hub rebuild and I turned the hub it felt way too tight to me. I figured it would loosen up a little and it definitely did. So I tightened them up now and hopefully they stay that way. It only took a half hour.
Toy-YotaParticipantVery true, I’ve had CBs in my last Trucks and we never really did use them often but when we did the reception was garbage. With that said I have no idea how to use them properly so maybe it was my fault.
Toy-YotaParticipantNow’s the time to iron out all the issues….. lol

Toy-YotaParticipantWhen I swapped the 37s I noticed my wheelbearings had looses up a lot and there was quite a bit of play. It’s not in my personality to drive it like that. So I tightened them up. I’m getting To be an expert at Toyota axles lol

Toy-YotaParticipantSo much for building an overlander LOL, I couldn’t find any 315s and these were a steal and bolted right up so I did it.
I’m gonna run them for a bit and see how it goes, it’s a bit of a dog but it doesn’t drive too terribly. Still need to find a spare though!
Toy-YotaParticipantI’m going To have to trim a little in the front fender area around the body mount for sure.
Toy-YotaParticipantNice to see you’re getting some work done! The bumper chop changes the truck totally, and the body mount chop will be functional for sure. If you don’t follow stellar built on Instagram you should, they do tons of work on 5th gens and you’ll probably get a bunch of ideas from them!
Toy-YotaParticipantThat’s a smart move! I just sold the bigger excavator I had too. Oh well maybe I’ll find another.
Today I stepped up to big boy tires. 37×12.5r17, they’re big and heavy. But fit the truck really well I think. And they were a good deal.

Toy-YotaParticipantIt’s so true, it gets way too easy to just throw tools wherever is convenient.
I’m back To work now so the wrenching on the truck will probably slow down for a bit. I’m on the hunt for some 315/75r16 tires though if anyone has anything or sees some around. I also need to order a center diff lock button and install that which is easy.
Work stuff will keep me busy for a while now 🙁 On the plus side I just got this machine with a bunch of attachments so let me know if you need any work done!

Toy-YotaParticipantWe’ve been thinking about getting a bike too. We sold the atv a couple weeks ago. I’d get something just to boot around on when we go to the cottage, but it would be mainly for my wife while I’m in My truck wheeling.
The main problem we have now is with my camper and the Land Cruiser I have no way of moving a quad but I could figure out a mount to put a small dirt bike on the trailer. I’m thinking like a CRF/Xr100 size bike or maybe a TTR125 or something.
