April 23, 2020 at 8:04 pm #209362Toy-YotaParticipantThat thing is rad! Super bright eh?
April 23, 2020 at 9:38 pm #209368Slick_YotaKeymasterIt has a Toyota E-brake! Gonna pick her up tomorrow. Got all the paperwork out of the way today.
Appraisal, called insurance, switched into my name, temp plates and taxes came to $470.
April 23, 2020 at 9:38 pm #209369Slick_YotaKeymasterShe goes in for the safety Monday.
April 23, 2020 at 9:45 pm #209370Slick_YotaKeymasterSince this is my bike thread, I should talk about my bikes…. In order to make room for the Orange Crusher (modified the name a bit), I started working on the KZ.
Stripped the shitty seat that the PO had ballooned with foam… It turned out pretty well.
– Drilled out hundreds of rivets.
– Took a big piece of 2″ foam.
– Cut 1″ off the bottom of the seat cushion that was not made for that bike.
– Trimmed the edges of the cushion to make it more café style.
– Rewrapped the seat with the excessive amount of vinyl that came off of it…
– Re-installed.And Voila! Done! (I’ll have to post the pic from my phone).

April 23, 2020 at 10:12 pm #209376Slick_YotaKeymasterNext, I pulled the carburetors off.
Replaced a seized throttle cable and pulled off the bottoms to see if there were actually floats in them (in the spare parts box, there were 3 floats…. there were also 4 carbs). I was thinking 1 carb might be missing a float.First carb looked not too bad. Second was a little goopy… cleaned them out a bit, but didn’t totally disassemble (getting late and I was hungry).
Put back together, adjusted the cables and put in fresh gas.
Then tried to crank her over….. and over….. and over.
M says “I think you’re out of luck my love”.
I look down at the choke and realize the fuel is still shut off – well shit!
Turn the fuel on and crank her again…… PUT! Hey, that’s a fire!
Keep cranking and vroom!!!! She started up!
Kijiji here we come!
April 23, 2020 at 10:13 pm #209377Slick_YotaKeymasterNow I have to find the damn ownership!
April 24, 2020 at 9:05 am #209379Toy-YotaParticipantThat’s always satisfying when it fires up for the first time, good luck with the sale.
April 25, 2020 at 8:44 am #209394toys-n-yotasParticipantWhat do you cut foam with? Seat looks 10x better in its new form.
Glad it was just a pesky petcock after the carb work haha. That first pop is the most satisfying of the pops haha. So close one can taste it.
Good luck sellin’ it quick. Time is right, and the curb appeal of that bike is high.
April 26, 2020 at 6:22 pm #209406Slick_YotaKeymasterIndeed it is!!!
I used an OLFA utility knife. I’ve used a bread and fillet knives before.
I’ve seen bike builders use electric knives to trim their seats.
