toys-n-yotasKeymasterBit by bit indeed, trying to keep focused.
I bought the RedLine at my local Davenports. They stock MTL, and I said I want MT-90 cause it’s a GL-4… they told me, no problem we’ll order it in for tomorrow. How many? Think i paid $30 each.
The other day I trimmed down my MAF adapter spacer, and finished making gaskets for it. Technically the spacer is complete, but I still need to figure out a way to mount it to the inner fender or battery box area cause it’s way too heavy to dangle, and i don’t want vibration to break or chaffe away at the intake pipe or upper rad hose. There is a sliver of light on both sides, meaning i am not touching the fuse box or rad hose. But i must secure it precisely here.

toys-n-yotasKeymasterOver last two weeks i chipped away at my MAF sensor spacer, and finally have something i can work with.
I’ve still got some tweaking and shaping to do, and rig up a mount somehow, but getting much closer.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterYesterday in the shop, I warmed the bike and changed the oil. Now I’ve got new tires, new oil and filter, full tank of gas…. Just waiting on more fair weather. This weekend looks warm but rainy, and I’m daddy-on-duty start to finish.
Up next will be continuation of work on Redee. I’ve got a couple nights worth of activities queued up.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterLast night in The Shop, fresh tires!! Spooned, mounted, torqued. Ready to rip.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterUpdate: still no Kijij reply, so i drove past the house today and see it in the driveway. Stuck up a conversation with guy, turns out he’s only looking to trade for a car for his wife, or $5,000. Too much for me, but guy has my number if he gets down to about half that.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterLast night in The Shop, i dismounted my wheels and spooned off the old tires in no time flat. That rear is a B to break the bead, but put some muscles behind it and she submitted.
On another note, I reached out to a Kijij seller in Shelburne looking to trade their first gen 4Runner for “Something intersting”. Hoping that my collection of atvs & bicycles & R/C cars are interesting enough. I’ve been Waiting 12-hrs now on a reply, getting kinda antsy, just trying to begin a conversation. More details to follow if ANYTHING becomes of this.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterUp next in The Shop, my bike is getting new tires. Yesterday when the weather was nice I pushed my bike it out of the back shed, and simultaneously put away all the shovels and toboggans. Must have been bad joojoo, as it’s been snowing most the day today.
The only surprise pushing my bike out of storage was how little gas was in the tank, coulda swore I filled it when putting away, but must still be an open item on my to do list.
A new set of Pirelli MT21s should be arriving from Fortnine via Canada post on Monday.-

toys-n-yotasKeymasterWednesday night in The Shop, a totally operational and running scooter! Some drama trying to figure out “no spark”, and honestly I don’t know which change point solved it, but hey, and results are what we wanted.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterLast night in The Shop, hot staples and JB plastic weld were called upon to beautify the scooter.
Some before / mid / after pics. She’s not perfect, but way better than before.
The hot stapler is a new tool to the shop, and one with a mild learning curve, so we picked it up pretty quickly.
Prolly a dozen staples in the 8” crack, trimmed flush-ish and hidden with epoxy. The turn signal bracket should cover and distract the eye from all the JB.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterNot a bad life on those original seals eh! And $32 and some gear oil is not a bad repair bill either.
Are your wheel bearings still original?
toys-n-yotasKeymasterLast night in The Shop, Matt and I put the scooter mostly back together. The gasket kit arrived from eBay, so the final reduction gearbox could be reassembled and filled with 90ml of 10W40. The new belt fit like a charm, and everything sounds whisper quiet.
Came to the point where we tried to test fuel, and she just chugged and chugged but no fire. Checked spark, NOTHING. Tried a new plug, still nothing. Started testing as per the service manual, and the coil is pooched. Calls for 0.1-0.3 ohms resistance, we’re seeing 3.6 ohms, more than 10x the spec limit.
No idea how the coil eff’d itself by sitting for 2 weeks, but a new one has been ordered already.Perhaps tonight Matt and I will try to repair the fairing with a hot stapler and two part epoxy. Currently 30y/o duct tape was attempting to hold it all together, but that was insufficient.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterI started fitting in the cone filter, but got stuck between a fuse box and a rad hose. My options are too move the fuse box towards the firewall, or shim the air filter closer to the rad.
My plan is to fab a spacer between the MAF sensor and adapter. Need about 1-2”
toys-n-yotasKeymasterI spent last night watching a movie with me lady, so clearly nothing got done on Redee.
Today i bought some gasket paper for the MAF adapter, and enough 1/4” fuel hose to connect the fuel return line to the original hard lines on the firewall.
For the fuel supply line, I struck out at the local shop trying to buy 5/16” high pressure hose. When i got home from work I tore into my hose and tube stash, and located the 10ft roll of 5/16” hard line I bought to plumb the SBC back in 2018. Anyways, rather than replace the entire length of the rubber hose, I intend to extend an intermediate hard line (about 6” long) with a new section long enough to get my existing hose to the drivers side inner fender. Pretty hard to explain, but I’m $0 for a hard line as opposed to about $75 for new a new rubber hose.
Have to wait and see what I accomplish during my next shop session.
toys-n-yotasKeymasterThe boat from China arrived, and the supply chain delivered my MAF sensor adapter. Perhaps tonight I’ll mock it up, and figure out what kind of bracket I need to fabricate to mount it to the inner fender.
Tonight I’m also going to cut a couple inches off my fuel supply and return lines, so I can buy 10-15 ft of each diameter.

toys-n-yotasKeymasterOne of my daughters helped me spoon a fresh tire onto the rear rim of mats scooter with a new tube. Hoping it holds 30psi overnight. The tire is so narrow there’s hardly any space to keep the tube out of the way of the rim, tire bead and spoons. Think I’m just paranoid.
That eBay gasket en route is one of the last pieces we’re waiting on. -
