TCI got hold of Woodstock Toyota.  They are going to install new leaf springs and pay me cost of the springs!

Only catch is they want my old springs.  This is ok for me because the OME Dakars are broken anyway…

They’re going to do the frame check at the same time (decided to take it there, just for ease).  I’m sure the frame is good… However, if the frame needs replaced I’ll have to put stock coilovers in the front – although the service manager said it might not be an issue.  Not that big a deal none-the-less… Lots of guys on TW still have the stock coilovers…

Done and rides way better now.  I took about an inch off the adjustment on the coilovers.  Didn’t really affect height, just the ride…

    Stopped squeaking too!

Pics – shocks and the f___ing spring compressor:

That’s pretty cool!  Old girl’s been around.

I was on the 403 yesterday.  Some kid gave me the thumbs up and pulled up beside me to take pictures.

Got one side of the coil overs switched out with a little help from finn.

That collar did not want to come off the housing…

Damn near broke my hand on the spring compressor.  still under pressure, one side let go and the other side caught my hand.  2 hours in emerg later….  no broken bones, didn’t cut the tendon (but came damn close).  5 stitches later, back home and got the right side changed out.   I’ll do the left tomorrow.

Thanks Ryan.  I think it might be a bit different for the second gens.  They’re not doing any buy back at all (same with the Tundra and Sequoia).  Just replacing the frame or spraying it if there’s no holes.

How’s yours coming along anyway – done yet?

Got the billies and bought a strut spring compressor.  Gonna go back and buy the guy’s navigation unit too.  It’s for a 2014, but I can rig it to work in my 09.  TacomaWorld has a good tutorial on it.

Taco in the garage under surgery as of Saturday night.  Couldn’t wait, had to pull one of the coil overs out.

    Pictures to follow…

    @Toy-Yota – NP dude!

Well TCI came through for me.  They’re going to reimburse me for the leaf springs!  Not sure how much yet, but it’s the principle of the matter – I don’t really care how much…

Woodstock Toyota got my new AC pressure caps 🙂

They also offered to inspect my frame, but I think I might make the trip to Hefner for that…

There’s a guy in Hamilton that has a brand new set of Billies 5100’s for $500.  If my buddy can’t get a good price on new ones, I’ll jump on those ones.

As a note, I will not be going to Woodstock Toyota for this inspection.  I have no faith in their mechanical abilities…

I called TCI (Toyota Canada).  They are looking into my leaf spring issue and I should hear back in a couple of days now.

I also asked about the frame recall.  It is for Tacoma model year 2005 – 2010 and also includes Tundra and Sequoia.  See club chat for more details.

I was always pretty regimented about cleaning my fame, so I don’t think mine will be rotten.  I’ll get it inspected anyway.

Bought an AC condenser from a buddy for $175 +Tx.  Installed it Friday night.

Picked up an AC refill kit from Wismers for $46.

The old girl has AC again!

Oh yes, Woodstock Toyota was kind enough not to reinstall my Hi and Lo pressure caps for the AC lines.  I’ll go chew em out tomorrow to see if they give me some.  I’m sure they will – I can get pretty bitchy with dealers – lol.  I’ll save that though because I still want them to honor a leaf spring warranty 😛

I was up at Blue Mountain Village last week.  I saw a former sontt member’s truck up there – it was a 90’s 4runner with a stencil of a Canada flag on the fender, painted flat grey or green.  Can’t remember his handle or if he came here…

    Think he was from Collingwood.

    Nice!

If I recall, Mike used to do the majority of trails in 2WD.
