It’s been kind of quiet on here lately, I have so many pictures from work and life this year. Most of them are truck and/or equipment and boat related. May as well share them here.
I don’t know if anyone else is like this. I’m constantly thinking about what vehicle will suit me best no matter what vehicle I have built I always seem to think that there could be something better. I wouldn’t even say it’s because I lack contentment, I’ve liked all my vehicles and appreciate them for what they are. I do have to say this 2012 Tacoma that I have now is probably my least favourite Toyota that I’ve owned. I still like it. It just seems to lack character compared to what I’ve built in the past with that said I do appreciate that it’s been reliable, modern, it’s nice having Bluetooth.
I fill up about 6 to 8 Jerry cans every day for the barge so it’s inevitable that I need a pick up truck, I don’t want fuel cans inside of an SUV. I really like having the cap on especially in winter, it keeps everything dry. But I do tow my boat everyday and this truck sucks on fuel now that I’ve lifted it and did 285s.i drive a lot normally, like 100km or more per day.
So I dont know what to do now, but I’m open To suggestions. If Island Hopper‘s barge, Service could justify a work truck that would make a difference in what I buy or build. We’ve been talking about possibly trying to find a service truck or a hook lift for the company because we do a lot of dumpster bins. It’s just tough right now because I run the company basically on my own so I can’t run the barge and a bin truck at the same time.
I will say this, though my mind keeps coming back to the 80series being the ultimate Toyota chassis. So I keep thinking about Cummins swapping and 80 or trying to find a 1HZ or 1HDT model. And then chopping the back off building a flatbed/service bed with a welder. Maybe half tray half canopy Australian style so that I have some covered storage. I don’t know it’s just a dream, and one that I probably could have fulfilled with my last 80series because I only paid like six grand for it and it was pretty clean, worth swapping.
OK, that’s the end of my rant. I’ll post some pictures now.

Is your barge operational all winter? Lakes stay clear enough?
That suburban was just a lil stuck on the one side eh? Was that a buddy? Or just stumble across a stuck fellow?
You are onto something with the Aussie style 1/2 canopy. Having space for dirty spilly gas, as well as lockable dry storage is gold. For me, an SUV is preferable, but At the same time I don’t know how I’d be able to do away with a truck bed. Maybe an 8’ Utility trailer? I feel like i should have bought a nice 5th gen 4Runner and a beater truck 12 years ago when I bought my taco. DD something nice, work and play to beat on something cheap.

Nope barge gets frozen in normally. This year it’s at an island on lake Rosseau. The three lakes here normally freeze up solid.Planning to rebuild the ramps and do a bit of other work on it in the spring. I’ll build them over the winter for sure.
That suburban just went in the ditch on a road I maintain in the winter. I pulled him with a chain and the skid steer. The guy owns a place on the road.
