ParticipantI’ll see what I can pull off!
Happy overall, sanding down the paint and liner to smooth it out made a big improvement. I had the tires balanced with balancing sand and that worked really well. They’re smooth as can be, this shop that works on Hino trucks did it, they said they’ve never had a complaint about the sand and it works well. I can attest to that.

ParticipantThanks! I’m happy Overall can’t wait to test it

ParticipantWe actually high fived at the end because it didn’t take long at all. I was sweating for sure but it really wasn’t too bad.
Here’s the finished product more or less. My friend has to track down the vinyl for the stripes still. And the paint needs to fully cure first because we have to put quite a bit of heat to it.
Difference between the tires too…

ParticipantUpdate: mounted the tires by hand today after a shop quoted 250 to mount and balance. I sanded the paint again to even it out and did another coat. One more tomorrow and it’ll be done. I might try to do some vinyl stripes too, a friend is gonna help

ParticipantI did kinda cheap out, the tinted raptor liner was a lot of money because I need so much product to cover the whole thing. So I got a gallon of ez liner, brushed it on and tomorrow I’m hoping To try to spray over it With an HVLP gun, we’ll see how it goes. I might sand it a bit first.

ParticipantAnddddd they cancelled that one too. This is absolutely crazy. I found a set in Toronto that I believe are the same, they’re used but a decent deal. I’ll just buy them and at least I’ll be able to wheel.
So I ripped off my fender flare at the front and that revealed a little rust. It’s really hard to put those flares and cladding back on once you remove them, but I didn’t want to let the rust get worse.
So I tore it all off, started sanding and filling holes today. Going to bedline the whole truck a desert tan color, and maybe try to do some stripes in memory of my old truck. We’ll see how it goes. Pics:Toy-Yota
ParticipantI had 3 ordered from amazon. 2 from eBay. They didn’t have stock on amazon so they refunded 2 wheels. Now I have three on the way from 2 different places.
Ordered another one off eBay this morning from Chicago. Which will make 4 hopefully unless they cancel that too. This is crazy.
I’m running The tires and wheel that came with the trailer now, I just painted the wheels black for now.

Participant50% of the way there. Turns out it’s super hard to get parts right now. Ended up having to get steel wheels, 16×8 pro comps just like I had with those 37s. We’ll see what happens, i had to order from 2 different places so I guess we’ll see if they show up. Excited to get then mounted though.

ParticipantMy wheels are back ordered so I cancelled and ordered from a new site. We Went fishing on grand river last Friday and had a little cook out at the boat launch. And a shot of my buddies buggy from Our last trip. It’s powered by a chevy tracker V6, with Toyota axles.

ParticipantSold my 37s, took a deposit on my 255s and just ordered this set up last night. Pretty pumped even though it was financially irresponsible. Excited to test a new tire though. 315/75r16 Firestone Destination MT2 and the American racing AR201 in bronze with a black lip.

ParticipantToday I cut into my hood, To install hood louvers. I won’t lie it was pretty nerve wracking. But it’s one of the benefits of owning an older vehicle that You don’t owe money on.
I think it turned out okay and I really hope it lowers the underhood temps. The coolant temp has always stayed happy but the floorboards collect a lot of heat. Guess we’ll find out on the next trip! Finished up the rear inner axle seal and changed the rear diff fluid too
Toy-Yota
ParticipantYeah it’s a huge difference!
It’s pretty expensive, I do have factory lockers But I still can’t get the rear one to engage.I think by the time I pull the thirds and have it regeared it’ll be more than I want to spend. If all I was doing was overlanding I’d keep these tires but I just can’t seem to shake the crawling, so 35s will do suffice.
